The Inflatable Boat

I don’t have one photo from today, but I do have lots of good stories. For one thing, a soft rain is falling on Half Moon as I snuggle into bed. Tango has long since buried himself somewhere in the blankets. This is our first rain. Somehow it seems appropriate being in the northwest ecosystem.

Thanks to slightly cooler days and many comfy chairs I worked a full day on writing projects. I started by organizing all my writing files, and moving most to Dropbox. I have the work-in-progress manuscripts in One Note. I learned to love One Note as a writing organizing tool.

Around five PM, I made a resolve to somehow get the inflatable kayak into the lake. I thought, Today is the day. I have not been especially motivated to figure out the valves and inflation method after one disappointing try. A few days ago I watched a You Tube video about how to inflate this model–a Sevylor Rio. I also reread all the directions and found the second kind of pump that I need–it’s complicated at first.

I managed to get the kayak inflated and into the water. Tango looked horrified when I dressed him in his life jacket and tossed him in the front. Next I got in and off we floated. Tango wouldn’t move so I nudged his butt to make him sit. I have no idea if he liked it, but I sure did. After a paddling near shore, I took Tango in and then paddled out by myself. SOOOOOOOO awesome (no Gene, there is only room for one in the boat). Patience! After my first attempt to get the boat afloat I was really upset. Today- no problem.

The motivation: a tree lined lake in a mountain valley. Just had to get in. I may go out again early morning without Tango. I don’t mind leaving him in Half Moon if temps are cool.

A few feet from where I launched looks exactly like this! Lily Pads

First, a big yard sale in the nearby town, at 8 AM. Sounds like a big group sale.
