Mind-Blowing Monday

Monday Morning! The world and its people and/or critters amaze, irritate and/or delight me. Most recently:

  • I am an embarrased Denver Broncos fan. Aqib Talib what were you thinking when you poked another player in the eye? Not intentional you say. Man up.
  • Why do so many people care about Starbuck’s blank red cup? This is nothingness, mean-spirited outrageousness. American culture hits new lows every week.
  • This one is not on the same level as Aqib Talib and his game-losing antics. However, how does my dog know when I open a jar of peanut butter? I open lots of jars but he comes running into the kitchen only when I open peanut butter. At one time I used regular peanut butter and I suspect he smelled it–I gave him the spoon to lick once and he is PB obsessed ever since. I now use PB2, a powdered version with far less sugar and fat, but that dog still comes running when I open the jar and only when I open that jar.
  • We had a confirmation class overnight at Church Friday night. All the kids were tucked into sleeping bags by 10 PM. Basketball season and other activities tucker them out by Friday. I had a decent night’s sleep for the first time ever during a youth lock-in.
  • Starting today, garbage cans go on the street, in front of the house. Since last Spring, cans were in the back, along the alley. However, deep snows (yikes) prevent the huge garbage trucks from driving down alleys. Next spring we will put our cans in the back again. I am wondering, why don’t we just ALWAYS put our cans up front? Same reasoning behind, why do we have the change our clocks twice a year. Very few things about our crazy modern life bother me, so I can’t figure out why these two simple changes set my teeth on edge.

Anyway, today I am off duty and going fishing. The PBJ dog and I are headed out with Don the Baptist (really, he is a Baptist). Taking lunch and looking forward to storing up some Vitamin D before winter arrives for good. The air is nippy, but the sun shines!

Advice to self:
