Memo to the Garden – July 19

Dear Faithful Garden,

I can see how hard you’ve been working to produce beautiful flowers and veggies. Today I harvested summer squash, chard, jalapenos, and eggplant. I have not cut many flowers but quite a few are blooming now: marigolds, moss rose, hollyhocks, lilies and more.

We have had some losses and disappointments but overall, it is looking good out there! After a visit to the vegetable garden at Denver Botanic Gardens I want to do some fancy things with rows, sending them off in different directions. We will see kind of energy I have for that in the fall.
