Malaysia

Been curious about Malaysia, considering it is constantly in the news.Since all the public figures speak English, I already figured that it was a a former British colony. New things I learned: Malaysia has an extremely healthy tech and science-based economy, Islam is the state religion, and it’s medical tourism is increasing rapidly.  People from all over Asia travel to Malaysia for surgery and other health care. Malaysia is a booming place.

For fun, I decided to take a trip to Malaysia (in my dreams). My flight would cost $1800 if I traveled at the end of May. If I traveled at my other favorite time- September- the fare is $1600. For my hotel I chose the Angullia Beach House Resort, Marang, Terengganu

ANGULLIA

Here is the description: The Angullia has been welcoming travelers for over 24 years, and it is easy to see the reasons for its success. The prices are extremely reasonable – £5 a night for shared dorms, with the choice of beach chalets to kampung-style houses in the sprawling gardens. A beach cafe is open during the day, and a lively restaurant at night specialising in Malay curries and freshly-caught barbecued fish. For snorkelling and scuba, local fishermen go for day trips to the reefs around nearby Kapas island

Malaysia still uses the British Pound. That means doubles are $34 and dorms $8.39. Not bad!! That would work into my budget and I love the idea of a beach cafe. The spicy food sounds fabulous. For $60 US per day, I could have a nice room, go snorkeling and eat well. With $1600 air and $60/day I could spend a week on the beach for $1960. Hmmmm. A bit pricey for me, but still a possibility someday. Will keep working on a more affordable air fare. Once I get there everything else is cheap!

Okay, dream is over, time to wake up!
