Not Exactly Unemployed

Well, my minister job in Wheatland ended, but I am subbing at the High School. I love being with the older kids. My main subbing gig has been PE!! What a hoot. I was totally non-athletic in high school and college. So, the image of me in the gym, with my whistle and stopwatch, wearing a Wheatland Bulldogs t-shirt is hilarious. Next week I subĀ for a MATH teacher. That is even more crazy than being a PE sub, considering that math has changed drastically since I was in school. I don’t think they do even simple math, like division, the same way. The week after I sub for a science teacher, which is more familiar to me.

I have been talking to a few churches, but nothing yet that really interests me. I have narrowed down what I want (smaller town, financial stability, mission focus) so it may take awhile to get the right focus…especially finding a financially stable church. I enjoy living in a parsonage rather than finding my own living arrangements, but those are also getting less common.

I am enjoying this temporary time away from ministry work more than I expected I believe that I should have taken a longer sabbatical. Most ministers try for 3 months, twice as long as I had. Anyway, at the right time, the right opportunity will arrive! I am patient, especially since I have a house-sitting offer which can last all winter if needed.

More chatty news: my Wonderbag arrived yesterday. Last night I “cooked” a Harmony House vegan soup mix and it came out great. I used a medium-sized saucepan, but I discovered that my large stock pot also fits. I love my Wonderbag. It is pricey, but when you buy one, another is donated to an African family.

Tomorrow: the big yard sale. I will get photos. I find it simply amazing how much stuff I have after simplifying so much the last few years.
