As I have mentioned, many of my friends and acquaintances voted for Trump. I was unsure how to proceed in terms of healing. Eventually, I decided to let them show me if they are true friends by watching their reactions as I write about my pain, here and elsewhere.

I am so fortunate that the people I care most about gave me space, and when we talked were caring and compassionate. Kind. Healing conversations. Others have gloated and made comments designed to hurt me more. To the bad winners, I say adios amigos.

I am also delighted that only a few of my fellow Hillary supporters  are being poor losers. To the bad losers, I say the same thing: adios amigos.

Democracy demands healing, unity, and kindness. In the time I have left in this world I wish to be surrounded by real Americans, a good healthy mix of Democrats and Republicans.
