Spring-Summer 2019 Taking Shape

I have been brainstorming some goals for this summer. After lots of thought, I came up with this list of priorities:

  1. Be around people often
  2. Create a mix of fun stuff and volunteer work
  3. Stay in the Northwest area. There is so much to see here, and I made a commitment to lower my carbon footprint. Plus, it will allow some grandchild time!
  4. Visit Alaska again

As for the specific things I want to do:

  1. Attend several bluegrass music festivals
  2. Kayak
  3. Hike some of the WA coastal trails
  4. Fly to Alaska for the solstice
  5. Start section hiking the Palouse-to-Cascades Trail (formally John Wayne Pioneer Trail)
  6. Volunteer at a state park. I had thought about another National Forest or National Park gig, but they require you to commit for a whole season. The WA State Parks ask volunteers to do 30-day commitments!!! That way, I can alternate hiking and music festivals with the park volunteering.

I will move to the nearby marina for March and April, which gives me great access for kayaking Sequim Bay. For May-June, I will store the camper and car in the Sequim area where I am now and take off in the van. I will spend early May camping on the coast and doing some coastal trails then attending a bluegrass festival on the Peninsula. From mid-May until mid-June, I will leave the Peninsula area and section hike the Cascades side of the Palouse-to-Cascades Trail. I also have another music festival at that time. Around June 20, I fly from Seattle to AK, returning about a week later.  My little buddy, Tango, will not be happy staying in a kennel during the AK trip!.

After AK, I will probably pick up the RV; I hope to do a couple of State Park gigs for the rest of the summer, at 30-days each! In September, I may do more section hiking and maybe another music festival. Oct 1, I return to the Marina  RV park in Sequim.

Then again, I may do something else after the AK trip. Who knows what opps will present themselves.

I have so much to look forward to and I am so happy that I am based now in this area. It was one of the best decisions that I ever made, on every level.
