Camping in Denver

I arrived in Denver midday and set up Half Moon in a little RV park. This is a new experience for me since I always camp in the great outdoors with lots of elbow room and privacy. The park is on an urban thoroughfare, not far from I 70. Right next door is a large city park with a small lake and a trail. The set up reminds me of a mobile home park. The spaces are close to each other, and the ground is all gravel. Each site has electricity and water hookups. The bathrooms/showers are clean and lovely and the grounds well kept. Of course there is loud traffic noise as you expect in the city.

The only weird thing is there seems to be two “tiers” of sites. The left side has extra-large sites for Class A and Fifth Wheel rigs. It is neater, prettier, has more trees, more generous spacing, and nicer rigs. Their license plates show that the people are traveling from all over (I-70 is the gateway to the high country) The right side of the park has smaller spaces for smaller units, like mine. Some of them are a bit rundown and look like they have been here a while and others couldn’t be safe on the road. These all have Colorado plates.  I think these people are longer-term residents. This is the side I am on and it is a tad bit funky.

However, this is just what I need–I had appointments out this afternoon into the evening and it was fantastic to return to my own “home” instead of a hotel. Tango is not too happy about being on a leash all the time, though. .

So, my next project is to help Kerry move. Before I left Wyoming, I asked him if he needed boxes–no, he said. He had to be packed up tonight at the latest. I put a bunch of boxes in the van anyway before I left.  Well, I dropped Tango at his apartment before my appointments,  and I didn’t see a box anywhere. Things were neatly folded and/or in neat piles, but not one box anywhere. Everything was still in place in the kitchen. I talked to Kerry later this evening and asked him if he wants me to pack his kitchen and stuff while he works tomorrow. Oh yeah! No problem. It sure feels good to be a mom for a few days.

Coming “home” tonight I passed a storage place that offered boxes at 30 percent off. Will stop by on my way back in the morning. Already stopped at Wal-Mart for packing paper and tape. Tango and I will have fun tomorrow and we can walk around the big lake near there for a break. Tomorrow night we move him, using my van.

So, off to sleep soon. Big city “camping” is an odd thing, but as I said earlier, better than a motel. I love toting along my little home-away- from-home where ever I go and sleeping in my own bed!a
